John "Greg" Stanko, PA-C
Greg looks forward to meeting you and offering solutions to the problems you are seeking answers for, be it bracing, casting, medications, conservative therapy or surgery. He is willing to work with you to find the best possible treatment that fits your lifestyle.
Some philosophies he lives by:
- "Work hard, play hard"
- "Never give up"
- "Anything worth doing, requires a helmet"
Greg says, "Ok, yes l have been called an 'adrenaline junkie'. I believe any person can achieve any goal they set for themselves. Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off your goal. It may be you want to start an exercise program, eat better, lose weight, learn to play the bagpipes, whatever. My dad used to remind me on a regular basis - 'There is no such word as can't'.
Education & Prior Experience
Greg started his medical "journey" 40+ years ago when he enlisted in the USAF as an Operating Room Specialist after his discharge in 1979. He became certified and worked at that capacity until graduating from nursing school in 1989. He worked in the Roseburg area as an RN and helped open the Roseburg Surgicenter in 1991. In 2002 he was accepted to the University of North Dakota's Physician Assistant program. He was eventually recruited to Paragon Orthopedics in 2010 and has every intention of finishing his career here.
Community Involvement & Personal Activities
My wife and I live in the beautiful Applegate Valley on a small farm with 2 dogs, sheep and chickens. I love to spend as much time as I can outside gardening, rafting, hiking and biking. These activities "recharge my batteries". I also enjoy landscape and night photography. Lacrosse is also a passion of mine and a friend of mine, and I started the Roseburg High School lacrosse team in 2001. I would love to see the game played in Southern Oregon.
